Cyber Resilience Can’t Wait Why Business Leaders Must Prepare for the Next Digital Crisis

Cyberattacks are no longer isolated IT problems they’re strategic threats that can disrupt entire organizations in minutes. That’s why events like Converge’s recent Cyber Resilience Check: Are You Ready for the Next Cyberattack? are more than just industry networking they’re urgent reminders that the time to act is now.

Held at the Grand Hyatt Manila, the event brought together C-suite leaders, cybersecurity experts, and technology innovators to tackle a growing concern: how businesses in the Philippines can defend themselves in an age where artificial intelligence is both an asset and a weapon. From increasingly convincing phishing emails to automated ransomware campaigns, AI is enabling attackers to move faster and strike harder than ever before.

Sherie Ng, Converge’s Chief Commercial Advisor, captured this paradox during her keynote address. She emphasized that while AI offers speed, scalability, and powerful insights, its misuse can just as easily destabilize businesses that are unprepared. Her message was clear: AI must be wielded responsibly, and that includes building AI literacy across leadership levels not just technical teams.

Meanwhile, Steve Ledzian of Google Cloud Security & Mandiant focused on the crucial, and often underestimated, role of the boardroom. His session, “Boardroom Conversations,” highlighted how executive misperceptions around cybersecurity can lead to misguided decisions, underfunded defenses, or complacency in the face of genuine risk. His live simulation, where leaders had to navigate a cyber extortion crisis under pressure, was a stark exercise in how fast these threats can escalate and how critical sound decision-making becomes in those moments.

To that end, Converge also unveiled a new portfolio of security tools and assessments designed to help organizations proactively manage digital risks. From ransomware readiness audits to incident response retainers, the goal is clear: empower businesses to anticipate, detect, and respond before damage is done.

Cyber resilience isn’t just about firewalls or antivirus software. It’s a mindset one that spans executive decisions, workforce awareness, and the ability to adapt in real time. In a landscape defined by AI-enhanced threats and increasingly targeted attacks, resilience is no longer optional. It’s foundational.
